Anna on the big screen

Going by Bollywood’s love for current affairs, the Anna Hazare campaign was something that was waiting to be translated on to the silver screen. And doing this is none other than the thinking filmmaker,Prakash Jha. In tune with the ‘Anna wave’,Jha has titled his next venture Satyagraha, which will have Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. The film will address the ethos of a peaceful mass protest against corruption. We only hope it deals with the subject in question, unlike Aarakshan which left us wondering if we went to watch the right film, after all.

What Sonakshi Did Next

After playing a desi girl in her debut film Dabangg,Sonakshi Sinha will now don the role of a lady from Patna in Prabhudheva’s Rowdy Rathore. With a Bihari lineage, her excitement to play the part is obvious. “I play a Bihari, rather I should say,I play myself,” she smiles. Sinha will also be putting on her dancing shoes for the film which has quite a few dance numbers in store. The two waltzed across the floor to Khan’s debut film Maine Pyaar Kiya’s title track, with a few dips and drops where Khan finely balanced Bendre, making the audience audibly sigh. Khan is wearing his success well, and it shows.

Bengali Barfee

Having wrapped up the schedule in Mumbai, now Anurag Basu’s film Barfee’s shoot has moved to Kolkata. The actors – Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra – are said to be soaking in the mood of the vibrant city. Despite playing deaf-and-mute and autistic characters,Kapoor and Chopra have been having fun since the film is said to be a lighthearted one. While Piggy Chops confessed to gorging on roshogullas, the young Kapoor decided to drive around the city and was spotted in a batik kurta with pyjamas. A matter of ‘When in Bengal, dress like the Bengalis?
