For the past few decades now,there has been a paucity of good Continental stand-alone restaurants in Noida. Enter Theos. Set up a few years ago,as a high-end bakery in the cacophonous Sector 50 market,Theos garnered a loyal clientele,thanks to the excellence of their products. No celebration,whether birthday,anniversary or divorce,is complete without a cake or dessert from there. A restaurant was the next logical step and so Theos has relocated a kilometre away and established a bakery and a restaurant,dispensing both an a la carte and table dhote service.
One enters a long,brightly lit space bedecked with cakes,pies,breads,and desserts. The management probably has press-ganged grandmothers from around the world to work in the kitchens,given the myriad titillating tidbits. A small passage leads to a dimly lit restaurant,scattered with tables,potted herbs (which are on sale),and buffet counters,replete with Continental dishes.
The pasta is authentic puttanseca,chock full of garlic and chunky tomato sauce dotted with seed,the whole dish elevated by the presence of sliced olives and prawns,sprinkled with Parmesan.
As we dig into dessert,the Banoffee Pie and the Mississippi Mud Cake remind us why Theos commands such loyalty in Noida.
