I know what youre wondering. Am I a girl who looks like a man,or a man who looks better than your man? with these words American performer DLo took off with the audience at the Parks New Festival 2012 on Sunday. His show, titled DfunQT,was a little bit about life,a little bit about struggles,a little bit about love. It was also a great deal about humour and laughter.
A seasoned performer,DLo seemed famous in Delhi even before his show, going by the packed house which included a sizeable number of the citys Queer community. As he arrived on the stage, his trademark bald pate replaced by a mean mohawk,he grabbed eyeballs and ensured they stayed on him for the next 45 minutes.
There are also asides about coloured skin (a cauliflower is the albino version of a broccoli) and the politics of space (its tough for a Queer person to escape stares in public spaces, especially the road). By the time he signed off, with a pun on the worriers and warriors of the Punjabis,he had clearly increased his fan base.
