Six candidates filed their nominations on Wednesday for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, scheduled on April 10. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office said it received six applications, of which three were by independents.
“So far, 15 nominations have been filed from five constituencies. Two nominations each have been filed from East Delhi and New Delhi, and one each from Northeast Delhi and South Delhi,” an election official said. No nominations have been filed from Northwest Delhi and West Delhi seats so far.
Padam Chand and Mohammed Naeem have filed nominations from East Delhi as Independents. Vishal Khosla, also an independent candidate, and Naveen Chandra of Naya Daur Party have filed their nominations from New Delhi seat.
Dan Bahadur Yadav of Bharatiya Janata Dal (Integrated) has filed his nomination from Northeast Delhi, while Shri Chand Tanwar of the Communist Party of India has filed his nomination from South Delhi. The filing of nominations will continue till March 22. After scrutiny on March 24, candidates will be given time to withdraw their nominations till March 26.
So far, no nominations have been filed by candidates from the Congress, the BJP or the AAP. They are likely to do so on March 22, the last date.
There are seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi, six general and one reserved. The constituencies are Chandni Chowk, Northeast Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and Northwest Delhi (reserved).
