On December 16,Delhi Public School,RK Puram,held the Scholar Badge Ceremony for the students of Class XI.

Scholar Badge ceremony at DPS,RK Puram
On December 16,Delhi Public School,RK Puram,held the Scholar Badge Ceremony for the students of Class XI. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest,Shovana Narayan,vice-chairperson of the Managing Committee of DPS,RK Puram . The Principal,D R Saini,warmly welcomed the chief guest; Mr and Mrs Roy Chaudhary,the parents of Prantik Roy,who instituted the Prantik Roy Memorial Award for the school toppers in class X in loving memory of their son; and Mr and Mrs Baisya,who founded the Deepanwita Baisya Memorial Award. They gave away prizes to students excelling in science and sanskrit. The ceremony began with a melodious group song. Saini thanked Narayan for gracing the occasion with her presence. A dance-drama with a powerful message, Girl child — a gift,followed. The tiny tots of DPS Shiksha Kendra,a school for the underprivileged run on the premises of DPS RK Puram,performed an enthusiastic Western dance. Abha Chona,class representative of class XI,then initiated the most eagerly awaited part of the ceremony – the prize distribution.

Inter-school debate conducted at Ramjas School
The Ramjas inter-school debate,in English and Hindi,were held on December 2 and 3 at the Rai Kedarnath auditorium. The preliminary rounds were held earlier,at Ramjas School,Pusa Road. Over 50 schools participated in this round. Ten teams each were selected for the finals after a grueling preliminary round. The teams that made it to the finals in English were Bal Bharti Public School,Pitam Pura; St Thomas School; Bal Bharti Public School,Ganga Ram Marg; Apeejay School,Sheikh Sarai; Birla Vidya Niketan; Dayawati Modi Academy,Meerut; Army Public School,Shankar Vihar; Vishwa Bharti School,Noida; Ahlcon Public School, and Ramjas School,Pusa Road. The ones that got through the Hindi category were Alwar Public School; St Thomas School; Dayawati Modi Academy,Meerut; Lovely Public School; Bal Bharti Public School,Pitampura; Ramjas School,RK Puram; Ramjas Sr Sec School No 5,and Ramjas School,Pusa Road. The topic for the debates in the finals was ‘India is a billion strong’. The judges for the debates were Priyadarshan,News Editor,NDTV; Dr Anamika,and Rosemary Marandi; Senior Correspondent,PTI. Salman Khurshid,Minister of State for Corporate Affairs,graced the occasion as the chief guest for the English debate.

DPS,Sushant Lok,holds fifth Scholar Badge ceremony
DPS Sushant Lok celebrated its fifth Scholar Badge Ceremony on December 2 and 4. Principal Dr Ruchi Seth welcomed the guests and congratulated all the students on their meritorious performance. Rachna Pandit,Principal,DPS,Maruti Kunj,graced the occasion on December 2. As many as 620 students received badges of merit this year. While 270 students received academic honours on the day of the senior school’s

Scholar Badge function,29 students were awarded blue badges and 54 students got blue blazers for their splendid academic performance three years in a row. The Scholar Badge Ceremony for the junior school took place on December 4. About 350 junior school students were awarded badges and certificates on December 4.

Inter-school computer symposium
Apeejay School,Noida hosted ‘CODE 2010’,a three-day computer symposium starting from December 2. Over 40 prestigious schools from Delhi and NCR participated in the annual extravaganza.

The event was inaugurated by Narender Kumar,IT Head,Delmonte-Airtel and Ratul Dev Choudhury,Senior Manager,DELL,who lighted the ceremonial lamp. The event began with recitation of the Saraswati Vandana,which was followed by a Kathak performance by Kriti Cariappa.

The event was judged by Aditya Nayyar,MD,Excella Enterprises; Urvashi Popli,Advocate; Nirmal Lahoti,MD,Medicine; Supriya Suri of Cine Darbar; and Hema Banati,Associate Professor & Teacher In-charge of Dyal Singh College.

At the prize distribution ceremony, winners were awarded certificates,gifts and trophies by school’s principal,vice-principals and primary in-charge. There was a tie between DPS-Noida and DPS- Mathura Road for the Rolling trophy. After a buzzer round DPS-Mathura Road finally clinched the trophy and became the overall winner.

Debashis Ghosh,Head TCS North Region,the chief guest for the final day,spoke to audience.

Annual prize distribution ceremony at DAV,VK
The annual prize distribution ceremony of DAV School,Vasant Kunj,was held on December 16. The function was presided over by H L Bhatiaji,manager,DAV Vasant Kunj. Prizes for the inter-school and inter-house competitions were given away on the occasion. The investiture ceremony for the e-newsletter was also held. Members of the newsletter staff were given certificates of appreciation by dignitaries and the renewed batch of members was honored with designated badges. The prize distribution function began with the recital of shlokas by school students, followed by the welcome song .

GD Salwan,Rajinder Nagar,celebrates St Lucy’s Day
Students of GD Salwan Public School ,Rajinder Nagar,celebrated St Lucy’s Day as part of the ongoing international school award programme on December 14. It was an attempt to apprise the students on the various rituals and customs associated with the festival.

A special assembly was conducted,wherein the students dressed up as St Lucy and her disciples,and offered prayers to the Lord. They presented a song and narrated the story behind the festival to an inquisitive audience. Parents were also invited to view the special assembly. Gloria Paul from Helpage India graced the occasion as the special guest.

Annual day at Sheed Bisan Singh Memorial School
Shaheed Bishan Singh Memorial Senior Secondary School,Mansarover Garden,celebrated its annual day function at Shah Auditorium,Civil Lines,with the theme ‘Incredible India’.

Thakur Uday Singh ,the great grandson of Satguru Ram Singh,pioneer of the non-co-operation Swadeshi Kuka Movement ,presided over the function. The other distinguished guests who graced the event with their presence were Suba Satnam Singh from Australia and Paramraj Kaur Srichawla from New York.
