DPS RK Puram organises video conferencing with Swiss scientists
Delhi Public School RK Puram organised an interactive session with world-renowned Swiss scientists using advanced video conferencing technology. The school hosted students and teachers from 10 schools of the DPS Society,making the experience memorable.

Professor Thomas Stocker,an environmental physicist,delivered an enlightening presentation from Switzerland. An exhibition involving other widely-acclaimed Swiss scientists was also on display for the numerous students,who participated in the event conducted in collaboration with DPS Society and inaugurated by the celebrated Dr Celio,who also actively interacted with the students present,leading to a livelier session.

The exhibition mainly focused on the life and works of various scientists,who have made laudable contributions to the general welfare of society,such as Prof Bernard Hirschel,head of the HIV /AIDS unit of the University Hospital of Geneva and member of the International AIDS Society

Blood donation camp on Independence Day
Interact Club members of DAV Public School Vasant Kunj celebrated Independence Day in a different way by participating wholeheartedly in a blood donation camp organised by Rotary International at Noida on August 15. The school sent eight of its Interact Club members to the venue for serving the donors. The flag hoisting was done by Rotary Club Vasant Valley president Rtn. Rajesh Goyal.

During the colourful event,there was a short performance by the Rotary Club members. The Interact Club volunteers were presented mementos,t-shirts and coffee mugs.

SMS Janak Puri wins second prize in collage competition
Eco-Club “Vasudha” of St Mark’s Sr Sec Public School Janak Puri participated in an inter-school collage competition,which saw the participation of 45 schools from Delhi and NCR. The event was organised on Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Divas-2010. Srishty Saxena of Class V was awarded the second prize by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit at a state-level function organised by TERI Group on August 25 at Siri Fort Auditorium.

A South Indian tradition mounted upon Silk Route!
The Indian School Sadiq Nagar celebrated the South Indian festival Bomma Kollu on September 9. Bomma Kollu,one of the oldest forms of EDUTAINMENT,demonstrates the evolution of life on Earth through decorated dolls placed upon a progression of steps representing the most basic forms of life to the highest,or God himself. The assemblage is done on simple steps,but every effort is made to dress the dolls as befittingly as possible. During Dussehra,homes across Tamil Nadu get busy preparing for the Bomma Kollu. Our pre-schoolers offered a presentation of this ancient yet resplendent invocation in the school auditorium,generating a lot of interest in the audience. The dolls were handcrafted by parents and teachers of the school. This presentation was interwoven with the school theme of the year,namely The Silk Route.

Four cultures that dot the route,namely India,Persia,Venice and China,were incorporated in four separate tableaux of the Bomma Kollu.

The dolls were dressed to highlight the faiths,flora,fauna,and festivals of those four cultures.

Rangoli-making contest at Doon Public School
An inter-school rangoli competition was organised by Doon Public School Paschim Vihar on August 20 to celebrate Onam. The students made intricate floral rangolis. Vikas Bharati Public School Rohini bagged the first prize. Crescent Public School Pitampura and DAV Public School Ashok Vihar were the second and third prize winners respectively.

Awareness march taken out on Environment Day
The students of Shaheed Bishan Singh Memorial Senior Secondary School Mansarovar Garden celebrated Environment Day by taking out a rally aimed at creating awareness on keeping Delhi green and clean. The head boy and head girl welcomed Deputy Commissioner MCD Vikas Anand,Counselor of Ward no. 97 Usha Mehta Arora, MLA Subhash Sachdeva and area counselor Raj Kumar Khurana.

School chairman HS Hanspal and Suba Arvind Singh were present on the occasion. The rally started from the school,passed through Saraswati Garden and Chacha Nehru Park and terminated at the school.

They planted saplings in all the gardens and parks that came in their route. Children were dressed as trees,flowers,paper bags,solar cells,CFL lights and water drops for the occasion.

Seniors held banners and placards and shouted slogans,exhorting residents of the city to plant trees,save water,use bio-degradable bags and save Mother Earth.

Investiture ceremony
Abhinav Public School Pitampura has held a investiture ceremony to select the school cabinet. Mayank Bhardwaj was selected as the head boy and Surbhi Dogra was appointed as the head girl. House captains were selected for the four houses. Four ministers were selected for departments like education,sports,cultural activities and discipline. All class monitors were also awarded badges during the function. School manager Amar Aggarwal presented them with badges,following which all the staff members congratulated the newly elected cabinet. School principal Saroj Aggarwal blessed them and wished them all the best for their future.

RD Rajpal hosts Vibgyor inter-school festival
The RD Rajpal School organised a mega inter-school festival in the institution premises on September 4. Children from various schools showcased their skills in various fields. There were various competitions such as solo dance,group dance,fancy dress,coloring,poem recitation,etc.

The event was inaugurated by chairman Ishwar Rajpal,president Subhash Rajpal and principal Alka Kshatriya,who lit the ceremonial lamp. Students also presented a cultural programme,which included a Goan dance and Punjabi bhangra.

Students also indulged in yoga and skating performances,enthralling the audience.

The school choir,band and orchestra showcased their musical expertise – drawing a lot of admiration.
