A group of 60 students and six teachers from Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,went on an excursion to Orlando,New York,and Niagara Falls from May 10 to 22.

Bal Bharati students visit the US

A group of 60 students and six teachers from Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,went on an excursion to Orlando,New York,and Niagara Falls from May 10 to 22. The group visited the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando where the students participated in a three-day Space Camp. The students were engaged in several skills development activities such as Lego blocks,rocket launching and zero-gravity experience. They got the rare opportunity to interact with space scientists and astronauts. The experience benefitted them greatly. The team also visited Niagara Falls,Times Square and various theme parks. The 12-day trip,designed to give the students a chance to become acquainted with the latest developments in space exploration and to enrich their cultural experience was a huge success.

Students audition for ‘Funtakshari’

Auditions for selecting participants to the TV programme ‘Funtakshari’ was organised by Star Plus for students in the age group of 5 to 14 years in Abhinav Public School,C U-Block,Pitampura,on July 5. The auditions started at 9.00 am. As many as 36 students were selected from the school.

In-service training programme for teachers

DAV Dwarka got the privilege to host the in-service training programme for Maths and Science teachers from various DAV schools. The workshop was conducted on June 28 and 29. The resource person for Science workshop was Dr R C Sharma,associated with institutions such as IGNOU and IP. The Maths workshop was led by eminent mathematicians Dr I C Ahuja and Dr J C Nijhawan. The programme gave teachers an opportunity to update their subject knowledge and also provided them with methods and techniques to promote life skills in their subjects. The two-day programme was a wonderful experience for teachers and also acted as a platform for teachers from different schools to share their experiences on CCE and its benefit in their subjects. School principal S S Mukhija thanked the resource persons for their guidance and motivation and also applauded the efforts of the teachers for making the programme a success.

Youth Leadership Summit at Springdales School

It is an axiom of our times that our world is rapidly changing. With change comes a different view of the world. The needs of the 21st century demand a citizenry that is culturally sensitive and internationally focused,with an orientation toward the future rather than the past.

Keeping this in mind Springdales School,Dhaula Kuan,organised Youth Leadership Summit – 2012 — We are one but we are many,on July 12 and 13 for student leaders on the theme “Appreciating Diversity in School,Society and Nation”— a convention that focuses on understanding by working through the diversity paradigm of inclusion. The summit was inaugurated by the Salman Khurshid,Union Minister of Law and Justice and Minority Affairs.

The two-day summit included lectures,workshops,power-point presentations,group discussions. Eminent personalities from the fields of study like diversity,inclusion and leadership chaired the various sessions. Rajni Kumar,Chairperson Springdales Education Society,extended a very warm welcome to the guests.

Mathematics workshop at St Mark’s,Meera Bagh

A comprehensive mathematics workshop was organised by St Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School,Meera Bagh,for all mathematics teachers in Classes IX to XII of St Mark’s schools,New Delhi. Fifteen mathematics teachers along with Vice-Principal Veena Wahi of |St Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School and Sabina Shergil,Vice-Principal St Mark’s Girl’s School,attended the workshop conducted by the eminent Mathematics expert M L Aggarwal,who has authored several books on the subject. The topics taken up were real numbers,tangents to a circle and probability. Extensive analysis,elaborate explanations with examples and stimulating exercises were the salient features of the event. The five-hour session turned out to be an enriching and refreshing experience for all who participated in it.
