Path to Japan

In January,Madhura Khire,choreographer and head dancer of the Pune-based Pathfinder Dance Group,sent the bio-data,photos and videos of her troupe to the selectors of the prestigious World Dance and Music Festival in Japan.

In January,Madhura Khire,choreographer and head dancer of the Pune-based Pathfinder Dance Group,sent the bio-data,photos and videos of her troupe to the selectors of the prestigious World Dance and Music Festival in Japan. Come August,Khire and her troupe will be packing their bags for Japan. “It is a huge honour that we have got an opportunity to perform there,” says Khire. This annual event is one of the biggest music and dance festivals in Japan and garners an audience of over 30,000 people. Pathfinder Dance Group is the first classical dance group from India to perform at this four-year-old festival,which will be held from A ugust 4 to 10. “We will be performing a jugalbandi of the sitar and the Bharatanatyam form,” says Khire.
