Boxer Akhil Kumar glams up his sporty image as he features on Asha Bhosles next video If you thought that the Olympics was the last youd seen of pugilist Akhil Kumar, try again. The Olympic medalist is now trying his luck with modeling through a music video. The Haryana lad will be seen romancing female model Ankeeta Mukherjee in a music video titled Tum vada to karte ho par poora kab karte ho from Asha Bhosles latest album Precious Platinum. The album comprises a total of eight songs and two videos have already been shot. I was going through a rest period so I thought why not be part of this video. It wasnt tough since I just had to be myself in the video. Boxing is much tougher than this, remarks Kumar, who counts Jagjit Singhs ghazals as his favourite music when he wants to unwind. I like Ashaji but nowadays I am in the mood to listen to ghazals, he smiles. The video is conceptualised portraying Kumar as a dedicated boxer who does not have time for his girlfriend. So the girl tries every trick in the book to catch his attention. The two minute 40 second video features Kumar dressed in a red vest practicing his regular boxing training routine while the girl attempts to distract him. There is also a scene where he is painting something on a canvas and the girl splashes water on the painting. I liked the concept of the video since I have to remain composed and that is what a boxer does even when there are several distractions, he asserts. The video has been shot by producer S Ramachandran,a veteran of many Asha Bhosle music videos. We did not want to make Kumar do anything that did not come naturally to him. So we were certain he couldnt dance in the video. Instead we shot him displaying his painting skills since he said he was more comfortable with that, explains Ramachandran who has earlier shot Brett Lee and Urmila Matondkar for Ashaji videos. The video was shot on location in Mhad islands within a span of 10 hours, without any retakes, claims the director. Akhil was very cooperative and would do everything we instructed him to, says Ramachandran, who had even auditioned Vijender Kumar for the video. But the latter backed out owing to unavailability of dates.
