Noida issue reaches House

Public sector banks in “Noida Centre” have given over Rs 2,000 crore as loan for construction purpose as on March 2010,the Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

Public sector banks in “Noida Centre” have given over Rs 2,000 crore as loan for construction purpose as on March 2010,the Parliament was informed on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Finance Namo Narain Meena told the Rajya Sabha that as on March 31,2010,a total of Rs 2,166.2 crore in housing and other construction loans have been given by public sector banks in “Noida Centre”.

While Rs 1,258.7 crore have been given for housing loans,Rs 907.5 crore was given as loans for construction,setting up industrial estates,building installation and building completion. He was replying to an unstarred question asked by Bhagat Singh Koshiyari,a BJP MP from Uttarakhand.

However,the figure pertains not just to the land that is under dispute in Noida,but investors not affected by the land row as well.

While the question asked was specifically for Noida Extension,the minister said in his written reply,“RBI has reported that Noida Extension doesn’t not appear as a ‘banked centre’ in the master office file on banks.”
