According to the police, the complainant reported that her domestic help had stolen jewellery from her home, following which a case was registered at the Sector 50 police station under relevant sections.

A team led by Inspector Narendra Sharma, in charge of the Crime Branch, Sector-43, comprising Assistant Sub-Inspector Satbir and constables Rohit, Priyank, Ajit, and Yogendra, apprehended the accused.

“The police recovered two gold necklaces, one gold ring, one gold chain, and a gold and diamond bracelet from Thapa’s possession. During interrogation, Thapa, who has studied up to Class 12, revealed that he had been working at a dhaba in Delhi two months ago and had joined the complainant’s household as a domestic help seven days prior to the theft. He admitted to planning the theft after noticing the jewellery and cash in the house,” a police spokesperson said.

Thapa, along with an accomplice, executed the theft when the homeowner was away, later dividing the stolen items between themselves, the police said. He was attempting to flee to Nepal when the police apprehended him.

Thapa claimed that he had acted under Jora’s instructions, who was present at the scene during the Gurgaon theft.
