Metro services on the Dwarka Sector 21-Noida City Centre/Vaishali line were affected during peak hours this morning following a problem in the Overhead Electrification, leaving passengers stranded and giving commuters a difficult time.
The glitch occurred on the Line 3/4 metro route between Dwarka Sector 21 and Noida City Centre/Vaishali. Services were affected at 10:20 A.M. between Kirti Nagar and Subhash Nagar stations and resumed only post 12 noon after repairs were carried out.
In one loop, trains were operational between Dwarka Sector 21 to Subhash Nagar station and, in the second loop, they ran between Kirti Nagar and Noida/Vaishali.
Single line trains were operated between Kirti Nagar and Subhash Nagar to carry passengers from one end to another of Line 3/4. Dayal said no other lines were affected due to the incident and train services continued normally on these.
Commuters on the line which was hit by the fault faced a harrowing time with several of them getting delayed for work.
“I was delayed for an assignment by more than an hour. Trains were delayed on each station by over an hour and autorickshaw and cab services outside the station were charging double the usual amount to ferry passengers,” said Tripti, a regular commuter on the route.
Another commuter complained about trains being delayed by 40 minutes to one hour, leading to queues of passengers at the stations.
The Blue line metro was last week disrupted due to OHE problems leading to passengers being inconvenienced during peak hours.
