Referring to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s Kiran Bedi as “opportunists of the first order”, the Congress on Saturday said the two had gone back on their word after declaring that they would never enter politics.
Displaying Kejriwal’s affidavit from June 2013, the party alleged that after becoming chief minister, Kejriwal “went back on his words and availed all facilities that go with pelf and power”.
Congress campaign committee chairman Ajay Maken said the pary’s fight against opportunism is, “exemplified by Kejriwal and Bedi, both of whom had said they would never enter politics, and used the anti-corruption movement for the sake of power.”
He said Kejriwal and Bedi have furthered their political ambitions “behind Anna Hazare’s back,” who spearheaded the movement.Maken also released affidavits provided by all AAP candidates in June 2013, where they had sworn not to use vehicles with red beacons, not to take unnecessary security, or accept government bungalows.
Maken also announced that the Congress will bring out a booklet to expose Kejriwal and the AAP. “The booklet will project him as a leader specialising in U-turns and whose 49-day rule saw a tale of miseries for the people of Delhi,” he said.
