MCD drops four major JNNURM projects

In a meeting held at the Urban Development ministry,the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has dropped four major projects pertaining to the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission

In a meeting held at the Urban Development ministry,the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has dropped four major projects pertaining to the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). Officials said the dropped projects have been replaced by others.

According to Deep Mathur,Director,Press and Information,the four projects pertained to the construction of grade separators at Shankar Road-Upper Ridge Road intersection,Pusa Road-Patel Road intersection and Dayal Chowk,and construction of 25 foot overbridge at different locations across Delhi.

Other projects that have been replaced deal with strengthening of 10 major roads of 45 feet and above. “Also,there are proposals for strengthening the drainage system,” Mathur added.

Stating that the budget for

the projects came up to Rs 225 crore,Mathur said the projects were dropped because the UTTIPEC did not give clearance for the projects.
