MCD cleans drains

The MCD has decided to fix the outfall drain to ensure no waterlogging occurs on the stretch between the Kashmere Gate ISBT and Hanuman Setu on Ring Road. The outfall drain was damaged during PWD’s construction of the Salimgarh Fort bypass. Last year,clogging of the drain had led to waterlogging,which affected traffic.

The proposal,for which Rs 1.2 crore have been sanctioned,is likely to take five months for implementation and the drain might not get cleaned before the onset of the monsoon.

The MCD said it has already completed desilting of 85 per cent of its drains in preparation of the monsoon season.
