When you are born into the illustrious Kapoor family in Bollywood, you’ll want to become an actor sooner or later. Yesteryear’s actor Shammi Kapoor’s son Aditya Raj Kapoor seems to have realised this. Aditya will be making his acting debut at the age of 53 with the Jag Mundhra-directed Chase. “I wanted to understand life and look at it from another viewpoint. I feel enthusiastic about beginning my acting career,” says Aditya, who has directed films like Shamaal,Sambar Salsa and Don’t Stop Dreaming.

Characters with grey shades fascinate him and he will be playing “a state-of-the-art villain,” he states proudly, adding that his peppery hair will add to the villainous effect. Besides Chase,Aditya has two other films up for release this summer — Mumbai 118 and Deewangee Ne Hadd Kar Di. “Mumbai 118 is about an elderly builder who falls in love with a very young bar dancer and how he comes to terms with life.

In Deewangee,I am playing an underworld don.”

A fourth film is also in the pipeline, but the budding actor says it is too early to talk about it. Aditya, who, for a long time, was busy constructing amusement parks in the country and also working towards child education, got his first dose of the Hindi film industry when he was working alongside Raj Kapoor as an assistant. “It was an enriching

experience,” he reminisces. About his father,he says,“My dad is happy that I am doing films. When I told him about my projects,he said,

‘Finally, you have returned home’.” We couldn’t agree more.
