Insurance officer ends life,probe ordered

A 28-Year-Old administrative officer with an insurance company allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area late last night. Though an SDM inquiry has been initiated into the issue,the woman’s family has alleged foul play.

Identifying the woman as Swati Sharma,Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chhaya Sharma said,“We were informed about the incident when Swati’s husband made a PCR call around 11.30 pm,stating that his wife did not respond when he knocked repeatedly on the door of their house in Vasant Kunj. Following this,a team of officers was sent to the spot. They broke open the door,only to find her hanging from the ceiling fan.”

According to police,Swati married Rakesh Yadav in 2010,and the couple have a year-old daughter. Rakesh works as a software engineer at an MNC in Noida while Swati worked in Connaught Place.

Swati’s family in Guwahati was informed about the incident,following which they arrived in the city early this morning.
