Injured accused in trader kidnap sent to jail

The accused,Amit Sharma,was injured on December 14 after Chauhan allegedly shot at him when he and four others were trying to abduct him.

According to senior police officers,Sharma did not reveal much during interrogation. The only thing he remembered was that gunshots were fired,Sharma has reportedly told the police.

“Amit told us he returned from Himachal Pradesh a few days before the incident. He had been a classmate of Joginder (another accused who succumbed to bullet wounds),” said Vikas Chand Tripathi,circle officer.

Joginder,Sharma and the other accused had started from their village,Dhanaura in Bulandshahr,the day they allegedly tried to loot Chauhan’s Tata Safari. “Amit said they all started from village around 8 am and were drinking. He said he was too drunk on the night of the incident and could not remember the details,just that he was shot at during a scuffle,” said a senior police officer.

The police said Sharma has given them four names — Ashok,Mantu,Kishen and Rathi. Kishen,a resident of Chirodi village of Loni,has been arrested by the Ghaziabad police in a loot case,and Ashok,Mantu and Rathi are absconding,the police added. Sharma has been charged with loot and kidnapping.
