With a single stomach and 10 more months to go,one can traverse the dining landscape of Delhi with Go Delhi,an interesting loyalty book that contains vouchers for a whole range of restaurants in the NCR. Conceived and designed by sisters-in-law Ruchi Sibal,33,and Shivani Sibal,29,the book is a result of a love for food and a greater passion for dining out.
Between the two of us,we have eaten at nearly every place in Delhi, says Shivani, who goes on to explain that while Delhi is an expensive city to eat out,it boasts some of the best restaurants in the country. The book is not an original idea. Every major city in the world has products that highlight its best experiences, whether it is food, wellness or the arts. We wanted to create a loyalty programme of sorts based on the dining experience of the city, says Shivani.
The book divides fine dining into Gold,Silver and Bronze levels, depending on the price and the overall dining experience. Bars make up a separate list,so do bakeries. The last segment of the book is divided into contemporary and casual dining sections. There are three vouchers for every restaurant, café and bar. On the purchase of the item mentioned on the coupon, which ranges from a set of cookies to a main course, you can order, for free, another portion of the same dish or sometimes something that is similarly priced. The idea is to have something for everyone and for every kind of outing. You cant do without a Bukhara or a Barista. We discovered that restaurants consider patrons who visit twice a year as regulars, because there is so much choice. With the vouchers, one has the option to return to a place at least thrice a year, says Shivani. Each entry contains the chefs selection and an average indicative price. The Sibals have chosen the restaurants based on their own experiences as well as word-of-mouth publicity. Go Delhi has an expiry date, the vouchers are valid till December 31,2010,and a new edition will appear in January 2011. Lovebirds, please note, the vouchers are not applicable on Valentines Day. Nor are they accepted on important holidays like Independence Day and Christmas Eve. Next year,we shall also introduce a Spa and Body book of the same nature, says Shivani.
Go Delhi is available at all leading bookstores and costs Rs 1,999
