Humidity up,expect more rain today

Delhi sweated it out on Sunday despite temperatures being normal for the day,due to high humidity.

Delhi sweated it out on Sunday despite temperatures being normal for the day,due to high humidity. Humidity oscillated between 49 and 96 per cent.

Things are expected to be better on Monday as the weatherman has predicted rain in the city. Starting Tuesday temperatures are expected to rise again.

On Sunday morning,the city recorded 12 mm of rainfall. While the day remained hot,cool winds started blowing towards the evening.

The weather forecast for Monday indicates rain and thundershowers along with squall in some areas. Temperature will remain between 39 and 26 degrees.

“The western disturbance that has been causing rain for the last few days is still active,” said the Met department.

On Sunday,the maximum was recorded at 38.4 degree Celsius,normal for this time of the year but up from Saturday’s 37.3 degrees. The minimum was at 24.5 degrees Celsius,three degrees below normal and down from the Saturday’s 25.6 degrees.

The Capital has been witnessing rain in the past few days,which has brought down the temperature and provided relief from heatwave conditions.

Rain received this month so far was more than what Delhi got in the whole of June in the last three years. In 2009,the city received a total of 19 mm,last year the city received only 3.9 mm of showers. In 2008,the city had received 31.3 mm of rains.

The highest rainfall in the month of June in the past 11 years was recorded in 2007 when the city recorded 150.9 mm.

The record rain for the month was reported in 1936 when it received 414.8 mm
