He was stabbed four times,family says seems planned

“Three months ago,four men turned up outside his college and beat him up. He told us about this only a few days ago. He knew a girl whose father was upset with their friendship. He had even met Shobhit’s parents. He did not want my brother to speak with his daughter,” said Shubham Modi,Shobhit’s cousin.

Shubham also claimed that the girl was beaten up by her brother and had suffered a broken nose.

“She refused to undergo a surgery till Shobhit came. So her father asked Shobhit to come to the hospital and convince her. We are not blaming anyone,but the role of the girl’s family needs to be looked at,” Shubham added.

Police said they have questioned all five friends who accompanied Shobhit to the DLF Promenade Mall on Thursday. He was found stabbed hours later at the gates to his colony

Shobhit’s father Suraj Modi (48),a general manager at MMTC,had not filed any complaint regarding threats to his son.

“We refuse to believe that any of his college friends were involved in the murder. The way he was stabbed,right in the heart,seems to be the handiwork of at least four people. It is possible that he could have been murdered by hired killers. The only mistake Shobhit’s father did was that he did not complain about the threats,” Shubham said.

The autopsy revealed that he had four wounds — two each in the front and back. Shobhit’s body was cremated on Friday night.
