With the CBSE exams coming to a close this week,Newsline looks at some figures.

* The Central Board of Secondary Education exams for Classes X and XII began on March 2. The Class X exams started with Elementary Business and three other optional subjects. The Class XII exams began with Chemistry

* The Class X exams concluded on March 30,while the Class XII exams ended last week,

on April 2

* This year,around 1.45 lakh students appeared for the exams. Last year,around 1.1 million students appeared for the CBSE class X and XII exams

* Around 824,438 students of Class X and 637,578 of class XII took the exams

* More than 5,000 centres were set up across the city for the exams this year

* 2009 also saw the CBSE include Special Educators for specially-abled children from centres located in Mumbai and Delhi for the first time

* In 2008,as many as 8,252 students scored 90 per cent and above in the CBSE Class XII exams,with girls outshining boys. In 2007,this number stood at 8,111
