Loopholes in SC/ST admissions
Krantikari Yuva Sangathan,a youth organisation, submitted a memorandum on Thursday to the Dean of Students Welfare on loopholes in SC/ST admissions. The DU administration has been refusing to accept application forms from SC/ST students unless the resident commissioner of the state they belong to has attested the online marksheet. The organisation says that last year DU had committed before the Minorities Commission that reserved category students would not be asked for marksheets at the time of submission of forms,at par with general students. However, the university has not kept its word by presuming that every SC/ST student is lying about their marks, Maya,a member, said.
Volunteers go missing
After DUSU office bearers vandalised the DSW office on Thursday,ABVP and NSUI volunteers disappeared from helpdesks set up in the vicinity of the office. On lookers attributed this to the possible fear in their minds that they might be roughed up by the police and university officials in the wake of the vandalism by DUSU leaders.
Heat keeps students away
After a rather cool beginning, the temperature rose to 41.8 degrees C on Thursday, deterring people from venturing to DU. Down from the 27,000 forms sold on Day 1,today the total sale stood at 13,062.
