After a quiet day of “prayers and reflection” at her residence in South Delhi’s Uday park, BJP’s chief minister candidate Kiran Bedi said on Sunday “taking responsibility is the only way of life I know”. Asked if she would take responsibility if her party’s loses in the election, she said, “It is a philosophy I have practiced for years in my life: responsibilities are mine and rewards are for others.”
Bedi’s sister said the leader spent the day in “quiet reflection and prayer, and gave some much needed rest to her throat”.
Bedi’s residence bore a desolate look. Bedi, who was till Saturday constantly greeting the crowds, had a lone visitor on Sunday in BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman.

Commenting on Bedi’s statement on owning up responsibility, “This is her personal view, let us wait for the results. We still believe we will win. But she has spoken like a true leader.”
On exit polls, Bedi said people were “jumping the gun”.
“These are just surveys, not the actual result, and votes polled after 3 pm have not even been taken into account. In Assembly seats, even a few hundreds can make a lot of difference. I think we should wait till February 10 before drawing any conclusions,” Bedi said.
About 20 km away, in her constituency of Krishna Nagar in East Delhi, which saw record polling of 71.97 per cent, the BJP campaign office also bore a desolate look on Sunday morning. Asked about her constituency, Bedi said, “I am confident of winning. People there have shown a lot of love for the BJP and me. I have seen so much love and respect here. So many mothers have walked up to me and said they want their daughter to grow up like me,” she said.
In Vijay Chowk where Bedi went around in her last and most crowded roadshows, people said they were confident she would win.
“Krishna Nagar will send Bedi to the Assembly, even if the rest of Delhi lets us down. Our beloved doctor sahab (Harsh Vardhan) was by her side and this area will never let him down. She is a good person and she will work for the area,” Mahesh Singh, who works as a salesman in a shop in the area, said.
