Continuous rainfall causes severe waterlogging in parts of Delhi. Visual from Sangam Vihar. (PTI)Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to light showers on Friday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts more rain through the day.
Owing to the incessant rain, many parts of the city, including Sangam Vihar, Janpath Road, and Dwarka, experienced waterlogging.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi has predicted heavy rainfall in the city today. Based on satellite data, the IMD has alerted that a large inland depression has entered North India, as seen from satellite images at 8.30 pm on September 11. This system is expected to bring very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall to western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
A “large inland depression” refers to a low-pressure weather system that forms over land, rather than over the ocean.
