Chief Minster Rekha Gupta during her visit to Bhanwar Singh Camp in New Delhi on Sunday (ANI)Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday interacted with the residents of slum clusters Bhanwar Singh Camp and Nepali Camp in R K Puram, as part of her meetings with the people of Delhi to seek suggestions for the upcoming Budget to be presented in the Assembly between March 24 and 26.
Following the visit, Gupta directed the local police to take strict action against the drug trade in the area. She also said that she would meet the Delhi Police Commissioner to discuss the matter. Further, she directed the local civic department to immediately look into issues like non-availability of water, cleaning of drains, and road repair. New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj and local MLA Anil Sharma accompanied Gupta to the slum clusters.
The women also thanked Gupta for approving the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, a scheme under which women are supposed to get Rs 2,500 per month.
Speaking to mediapersons, the CM said, “Delhi government is communicating with all sections of the Capital to prepare for the draft of the ‘Viksit Dilli’ Budget. Today, we interacted with women and residents of Bhanwar Singh Camp and Nepali Camp at R K Puram. Our government’s priority is to ensure that basic needs of every resident of Delhi are fulfilled and for this, we are going to the smallest areas of the city to seek suggestions.”
Gupta said that during her visit, she heard the residents’ concerns, such as irregular water supply, poor sanitation, and bad roads. Women also complained about the rise in drug addiction in the area and the closure of public toilets. “We have instructed the local police to take immediate action. Also, a meeting will soon be held with the Delhi Police Commissioner to completely stop the drug trade in the Capital,” she added.
Earlier in the day, Gupta visited Lodhi Garden to interact morning-walkers.
