Delhi Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag has welcomed the return of Yuvraj Singh, who came back to India after undergoing three cycles of chemotherapy for a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs in the United States.
Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event here on Monday. Sehwag added that said he will personally meet his India team mate later this week to inquire about his health.
I am very happy Yuvraj is back. We all prayed for him. In the coming 2-3 days I will go and personally meet him, Sehwag said.
He is presently under rehabilitation and I hope he will return to the field soon, he added. Like his Daredevils captain,Kevin Pietersen too intends to call on Yuvraj personally top check on his health.
I was lucky enough to speak to Yuvraj last night before his return from London. I plan to meet him this week, Pietersen said. As a sportsperson our job is to follow our fellow cricketers in their difficult times. Yuvraj is a fighter and he will fight through this period also, the English batsman added.
Mahela Jayawardene also wished Yuvraj a speedy recovery. Im very happy that Yuvrajs treatment has gone well. I came to know about his cancer during the CB series in Australia. Though I did not get hold of Yuvraj,I kept regular updates about him from his manager, Jayawardene said. He is in good spirits and I wish him all the best. Sooner than later I am hoping to play against him again.
Switch it off
Meanwhile,Pietersen, who was warned during the second Test match against Sri Lanka for shaping to play the switch hit way too early against Tillakaratne Dilshan has said that the issue was blown out of proportion.
It was a controversy but why I dont know. I feel it doesnt make sense to penalise. I feel it was a time-wasting issue.
