Contract workers await regularisation, CM’s NDMC membership

“We are yet to receive the information on notification of the AAP leaders. We scheduled a council meeting on January 16 specifically for Kejriwal. But with no notification yet, we might have to reschedule it,” the chairman said.

In its poll manisfesto, the AAP had made promised all contract workers permanent jobs. The contract workers have been waiting to meet the CM at the NDMC headquarters to request him to deliver on the promise.

According to officials, the civic body is considering ways to regularise their contract staff, keeping in mind the top agendas on the CM’s to-do list. Even as the issue found mention on the agenda of the council’s last meeting, no decision has been taken yet, officials said.   Kejriwal had missed the previous council meeting, since approval of his membership had not been cleared.

The present policy for regularisation demands that a contract employee should complete at least six years in the job before being considered for a permanent position. According to the new proposal, those with 2,000 days of attendance will be eligible.
