Splitting MCD: Mayor writes to Chidambaram
New Delhi: The Mayor of Delhi,P R Sawhney,has decided to take up the issue of trifurcation of the MCD with Home Minster P Chidambaram. In a letter to the minister,Sawhney has asked for an appointment to meet and express his opposition to the Delhi Government move to trifurcate MCD. Sawhney said trifurcation will only lead to more confusion and weaken the body that at present covers nearly 97 per cent of Delhi. “When there is a single body,issues are sorted out faster. If MCD is broken up into three parts,public grievances will take a long time to get sorted out,” he said.

Swedish national found unconscious in Paschim Vihar
New Delhi: A Swedish national,aged between 35 and 40 years,was found unconscious near the Pashchim Vihar Metro station on Monday morning. Police are yet to ascertain the reason for his condition as the man is recuperating at a city hospital. “A PCR call was made at 9.34 am by a passer-by who noticed the man,later identified as Mannie from South Sweden. He was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital,” said V Renganathan,Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
