Protest over water shortage in Gurgaon

GURGAON:Residents of DLF phases I,II and III blocked the main road at Shankar Chowk,near the NH-8,on Monday to protest against the paucity of water. Residents blocked the road for more than two hours till the police took a few representatives to HUDA administrator Praveen Kumar. The administrator assured them that water supply would be restored.

Weapon supplier held,10 pistols recovered

NEW DELHI:The Crime Branch has arrested an alleged arms supplier,identified as Kalu Singh,and recovered 10 sophisticated pistols from his possession. Acting on a tip-off,police laid a trap on Ring Road on May 12 and arrested Singh. During questioning,Singh told police that he worked for one Richhpal Singh,an arms dealer from Madhya Pradesh. He told them that prior to this consignment,he had supplied arms in Agra and Delhi. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said raids were conducted at the residence of Richhpal Singh,but he had fled the spot.

17-year-old gangraped,one arrested

NEW DELHI:A 17-year-old girl was gangraped by three men,including a minor,in the Usmanpur area of North Delhi. Police have arrested an accused,Vijay,who was a tenant at the house of the victim’s parents. The others — the minor and an unidentified man — are on the run. The incident took place on May 17,but it was reported on Sunday,police said. Around 8.30 pm on May 17,the girl left her house to look for her younger brother. The three men followed the girl,forced her to consume a drink laced with sedatives and raped her. Medical examination confirmed rape.
