Faridabad:A 14-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped allegedly by her father’s tenant in Parvatiya Colony,Faridabad. Police said the girl went missing on April 4 and her father filed a complaint against his tenant,who has been arrested. Girl’s medical examination confirmed rape.

NGT seeks DMRC answer on rain water harvesting

New Delhi:The National Green Tribunal has sought responses of the Centre and DMRC on a plea alleging that around 6.37 crore litres of water is lost every year due to the failure to implement rain water harvesting measures. A bench of NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar also issued notices to the Ministry of Environment and Forests,Central Ground Water Authority,Central Ground Water Board and Delhi,Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments,seeking their response by May 6.

In-laws living away can’t be tried under DV Act: HC

New Delhi:The Delhi High Court has held that in a matrimonial dispute,a woman cannot seek protection from her in-laws under the Domestic Violence Act if they live separately from the couple. The court said if a woman faced violence or harassment from her in-laws,who live away,she can seek relief under IPC,but not the DV Act.

Man accused of raping neighbour let off

New Delhi:A man accused of raping a 14-year-old neighbour has been let off by a fast-track court,which noted that his medical examination did not find him “competent” of establishing physical relationship. The court also relied upon the girl’s medical report,which did not prove rape.
