Shastri Hockey in Nov
India will vye for top honours with Australia,Germany and New Zealand in the 22nd edition of the Lal Bahadur Shastri U-21 Women’s Hockey Tournament,scheduled to be held here from November 8 to 12. The men’s event will be held from December 17 to 24. The anual tournament,started in memory of the late Prime Minister,will be organised at the Major. Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
NBA star in Delhi
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is launching its largest fan event ever in India when NBA Jam tips off in NCR on Sept. 10. The traveling interactive basketball festival is returning for the third consecutive year to India. Former NBA Champion Steve Smith will appear in NCR at the Ambience Mall on Sept. 10-11 to tip off the tour,which will also travel to malls in Delhi,Bangalore,Chennai,and Mumbai.
Smith will interact with fans by providing basketball tips and signing autographs. As part of his trip,Smith will also train with Indias Jr. Mens National Team at IG Stadium and make various appearances for NBA Jam partners. Smith,was an NBA All-Star in 1998,won an NBA championship with the San Antonio Spurs in 2003,and was a member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Mens Basketball Team that won a gold medal in Sydney,Australia. Basketball is a global game and I am very excited for my first trip to India to join the NBAs efforts to grow the sport, said Smith. NBA Jam is going to be a great event that will provide fans across India with a unique opportunity to experience the NBA.
WD Academy win
A useful all-round display by Man of the Match Rajesh Sharma (38 run and 2/7 ) and contributions by Pulkit Narang (2/15) and Pardeep Malik (23) helped West Delhi Cricket Academy beat RPS Cricket Club by 30 runs to get four point in the 1st RCS U-19 cricket tournament at Ram Rark Sports Complex.

Pawars effort in vain
Powered by performances from Kunal Goyal (34 runs and 2/21) and Rohit Mehta (3/21), Rohtak Road Gymkhana beat Jonty Cricket Academy by 27 run to get four point in the 1st Om Sharma Memorial U-14 cricket tournament held at Ramjas Sports Complex. Pawan Kumar snared six wickets (6/10) in an effort that went in vain for the losers.

Ashish Chiller produced a devastating spell of bowling snaring five wickets (5/12) and his effort along with that of Raman (3/6) helped Raghubir Sports Cricket Academy beat Pratibha Cricket Academy by 4 wicket to get four points in the 1st Raghubir Singh Memorial U-13 cricket tournament held at the Raghubir Singh Sports Complex.

Ankush slams 95
Ankush Vains (95) narrowly missed out on a century but his contribution helped D. Force Academy,Najafgarh beat Gush Club by 101 runs to get four points in the 1st New Delhi U-19 cricket tournament played at Najafgarh ground. Rahul Sharma (45),Prem Dhendwal (3/21) and Jitender Singh (3/22) also contributed to the win.

Shahdara FC in semis
Shahdara FC rallied to beat Simla Youngs F C 3 1 and enter the semifinals from group – Y of DSA Senior Division Football League held at the Thyagraj Sports Complex. Simla Youngs led 1 – 0 through Manoj Chaudhary. Vikram Singh equalised in the 57th minute while Baljit Singh gave the lead in the 59th minute. The winning goal was scored by Harvinder Singh in the 79th minute. Shahdara pipped Royal Rangers,who earlier lost 0 – 7 to Delhi United,for semi – finals berth on better goal difference.
