As BJP Yuva Morcha on Tuesday held a protest against rising pollution at Anand Vihar, identified as one of the worst-affected areas in the Capital, Northeast Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari was seen distributing respiratory masks in the city.

During the protest at Anand Vihar, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva criticised AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi, accusing the government of inaction. “The Kejriwal government is a disaster. The Capital is facing an emergency… Whether at home or outside, people feel suffocated in this gas chamber. Elderly and children are suffering from respiratory illness,” he said.

Minister of State and East Delhi BJP MP Harsh Malhotra said, “It is unfortunate that despite being in power for 10 years, Kejriwal’s government has taken no substantial action against pollution. Instead, they engage in hollow statements and false promises.”

Meanwhile, Manoj Tiwari, accompanied by New Delhi Municipal Council vice-chairman Kuljeet Chahal, distributed face masks at Palika Bazar in Connaught Place.

Distributing N95 masks at a special event held at Palika Bazar Metro station, Tiwari said, “I cannot distribute masks to the three crore people of Delhi, but I can at least create awareness by giving them to some. Due to the inaction and carelessness of the AAP government in Delhi, the air has become so poisonous that every person, young or old, is in grave danger.”

“I have distributed masks everywhere and am requesting everyone to wear masks for a few days… Save yourself and save Delhi from AAP in the elections after a month,” he added.

Former Union minister Vijay Goel, who protested at ITO, alleged that the AAP government has failed to help the people struggling against the persistent hazardous air. Goel questioned how many more years it would take for Kejriwal to address Delhi’s pollution effectively, and charged that over the past 10 years, the AAP government has relied on rhetoric rather than serious measures to tackle the issue of air pollution in winter.
