Reclusive duo Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna talk about fighting honour killings in Aakrosh at the Screen preview
Neither of them is a talker but both Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna find themselves completing each others sentences at the Screen preview for their forthcoming film Aakrosh at the Screen office in Mumbais Express Towers. Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak was also present at the screening. The film uses the recent spate of controversial honour killings in North India as the background of a typical Bollywood action drama, says Devgn who, fresh out of the success of Raajneeti and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai ,is now hoping for a hat-trick. Khanna, who will be seen on the big screen after a years gap,is quick to add,The story has been fictionalised and we have taken precautions to not name any town or caste in particular.
Though a deep-seated issue, neither actor was apprehensive of portraying the roles of heroes who raise their heads against the killings. Nor are they afraid of possible controversies that the story may stir. Its ridiculous that being a nation that gives us freedom of speech, movies are often targeted, Devgn points out. But some films also make use of negative publicity, says Khanna adding after a pause, and Shah Rukh Khan knows that very well.
Khanna,in his trademark candid mood, also takes a dig at the recent hit Dabangg while talking about Aakrosh s action quotient. Devgn, who feels that old-fashioned hand-to-hand fights still work for Indian audiences, says that the duo will be seen bashing up two dozen men but convincingly,to which Khanna retorts,Unlike Da-bangg !
