Bihar abduction solved,six arrested

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell rescued the four-year-old son of a doctor couple from his abductors in the Muzzafarpur area of Bihar on Saturday in a joint operation with the Bihar Police.

Six men were arrested for the abduction of Hrithik Kumar,who was taken from Muzzafarpur by unidentified assailants on May 26. Sudhir Kumar,his father,started receiving ransom calls. “In the first call,Sudhir was asked to pay Rs 50 lakh as ransom,” a senior police officer said.

Sudhir informed the police about the kidnapping and a case was registered there. The Bihar Police started investigations into the matter and during the probe found that the kidnappers were in Delhi at the time the calls were made to Sudhir Kumar.

“During initial investigations,the kidnappers’ call records revealed that they were calling from Delhi,after which the Delhi Police was asked for assistance and the case was transferred to the Special Cell sleuths,” the officer said.

While four of the kidnappers have been identified as Munna,Amarjeet,Mohan and Baldev,the identification of the other two has not been revealed yet by the police,who probing the matter further.

Delhi Police sources said they started their investigations into the abduction and found that the calls were made from two phone numbers from Delhi.

“Their phones were put under electronic surveillance and after extensive work over at least three days the kidnappers were traced and arrested from the Yamuna Nagar area of Bihar. However,the boy was not there and he was rescued from the Muzzafarpur area on the basis of information provided by the arrested kidnappers,” the officer said.

Sources said the boy was brought to Delhi first and his parents were informed about the safe rescue of their son.

Police sources said they suspect the involvement of Sudhir’s assistant,Chandra Shekhar,in the incident and have detained him. “We suspect that Chandra Shekhar is involved in the kidnapping and might have provided information about the family’s routine,” the sources said.

The police said they are still raiding places in Bihar as they suspect that more members of the gang are on the run.
