In the last leg of campaigning, the AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for coming out with just a four-point agenda for Delhi.
On the day the AAP released the manifesto, Kejriwal, while addressing a rally in Tughlakabad constituency, waved a tiny sheet of paper and said, “This is BJP’s manifesto. There are only four issues mentioned here.”
As the crowd cheered, the former Delhi chief minister said the PM had promised security for women, housing for jhuggi-jhopdi residents, providing money in the bank accounts of BPL card holders, among others.
Hitting back at the BJP for its stand on women’s issues, Kejriwal said, “I want to ask the PM if in the last eight months, he could not bring down the number of rapes, then how will he provide security to women?”
“One BJP leader said a woman should produce four children, another said women should not be allowed to wear jeans or use mobile phones… A party with such a mentality can never provide security to women,” Kejriwal said.
AAP raises Rs 1.25 crore in a day
With just a week left for Delhi Assembly polls, the AAP’s fund-raising efforts seem to have received a boost. The party received Rs 1.25 crore at an event in the capital on Saturday.
The amount was raised at a meeting of AAP supporters and donors in Constitution Club, where AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal spoke about the party’s action plan and manifesto for Delhi.
“With today’s donations, the AAP is getting closer to its target of raising Rs 30 crore for Delhi elections,” the AAP said in statement on Saturday.
