Upon his release on Friday, party workers and leaders, including Mann, and Kejriwal’s wife Sunita, gathered outside the jail in anticipation of his release. Addressing the crowd, Kejriwal had said, “Didn’t I tell you I’d be back soon? I am back.” He added, “I’m fighting against dictatorship with all I have, now 140 crore of us have to do that.” On Friday, a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court had granted the Delhi CM interim bail till June 1 in the now-scrapped excise policy case. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the alleged excise policy scam. This made him the first sitting chief minister in India to be put behind bars.
