Hoax call halts Metro services
Metro services on the Inderlok-Mundka Metro corridor were delayed on Friday afternoon as the DMRC was alerted of a pillar,near Punjabi Bagh station,getting tilted on the corridor. The police control room received a call from an unknown person. A DMRC team was rushed to the spot but no such problem could be detected. Metro authorities said it was a hoax call.
Students awarded by IPS association
The IPS Wives Welfare Association (IPSWWA) on Friday honoured meritorious wards of personnel of seven Central Police Organisations. Wife of Director (Intelligence Bureau) and president of the Association Surekha Mathur gave awards to 15 girls and six boys,who scored well in Class XII examination at a function here.
Gang accused of 40 thefts busted
The South Delhi Police has claimed to have nabbed the kingpin of the notorious Bajaa gang involved in more than 40 thefts of stereos and other car accessories in Delhi and NCR. Forty CD/DVD/MP3 players,remote controls and other equipments used in the crime were recovered from the accused.
Beautify the city: CM to agencies
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has instructed all the civic agencies,the discoms,NHAI and transport agencies,to begin sprucing up the Capital for the Games. While the NHAI,the Delhi Metro,the municipal agencies and the Delhi Transport Corporation have been asked to install flags and banners,the discoms have been instructed to paint their transformers and other visible installations. The Railways has also been instructed to facelift their four stations New Delhi,Old Delhi,Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar.
Rs 22 lakh looted from ATM van
NOIDA: Unidentified men looted Rs 22 lakh from a van on its way to deposit money in the ATM machines of Deutsche Bank in sector-126,Noida and Connaught Place. The assailants tricked the gunman of the van and made away with the briefcase containing Rs 22 lakh,said the police.
Family robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh in Sahibabad
Ghaziabad: A businessman of Shalimar Garden in Sahibabad was robbed of cash and jewellery on Thursday night after he returned home from work. Ashwani Khanna,who owns a factory in Shahdara,was attacked at around 9.30 pm. The looters tied the three family members and looted Rs 90,000 and jewellery worth Rs 1.6 lakh,said the police.
