Headless body case: Police commissioner to give report to NCSC
New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta will meet National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) members on Wednesday to discuss details of the murder of Srikant Singh,the son of an NCSC employee. The NCSC has called the Police Commissioner for a meeting to discuss the case with him. Also,I have prepared a progress report of the murder case and this will be discussed on Wednesday, said DCP (South).
Police yet to find spot for Anna protest
New Delhi: A day after meeting the members of civil rights group led by Anna Hazare,Delhi Police said they had offered them a vacant plot of land between Daryaganj and the Ring Road for organising a protest. But by the evening even that option was ruled out. Police said the ground could accommodate around 20,000 protesters,but later they found that the Delhi High Court had stayed any kind of activity on that ground. The landowning agency,CPWD,informed the police that it was bound by the HC order.
Delhi’s first multi-level parking by August
New Delhi: Delhi will get its first multi-level parking by August. Located at Sarojini Nagar,the parking lot will be completely automated and will be able to accomodate 824 vehicles. We have taken approvals from the DUAC and Fire Department. We now need consent to operate approval from Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), said Anand Tiwari,NDMC spokesperson.
2,500 AISA members detained
New Delhi: Around 2,500 members of All India Students Association and the Revolutionary Youth Association were detained by the police for staying at their protest site beyond the permissible time. The group had gathered at Jantar Mantar for a 100-hour protest against corruption and corporate loot. The students had permission to protest only until 5 pm. Police detained these students around 8.30 pm and were released after two hours with a warning to discontinue the protest.
Physically challenged may soon serve meals
New Delhi: The MCD may soon provide mobile catering vans for the physically challenged. The Delhi government recently wrote to the MCD Commissioner asking the civic body to form a policy for giving licences to physically challenged people to run the vans and also fix areas where they can ply their vans. The Commissioner has placed a proposal before the MCD Standing Committee asking it to form a policy. The matter will be discussed in a meeting on Wednesday.
