Gang of bus robbers busted,eleven arrested
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has busted a gang of bus robbers with the arrest of 11 persons. The accused have been identified as Charanjeet (40),the gang leader who has 47 cases against him,Suraj Pal (45),Tinku (28),Bhagwan Das (34),Imtiaz (28),Mahesh Kumar (45),Rakhi (33),Deen Dayal (41),Ram Chander (45),Vinod (33) and Inderjeet (35). Three countrymade pistols with four live cartridges have been recovered from their possession. The gang travelled in a car near bus stands and railway stations early in the day to pick-pocket and rob passengers of buses and auto-rickshaws.
Youth,housewife end lives in Gurgaon
New Delhi: Two suicide cases were reported in the Capital,while a youth and his girlfriend are battling for life at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital after attempting suicide in Ghazipur area on Thursday. In the first case,Khurana Kumar Singh,a graphic designer with an MNC in Gurgaon,was found hanging at his residence in Lado Sarai by a friend on Wednesday evening. He was taken to a nearby hospital,where he was declared brought dead. Police said he was apparently depressed about his job. In another incident,a 40-year-old woman committed suicide at her residence in North Delhi on Wednesday. The deceased,Reema Sharma,lived with her husband and children in Kinari Bazar area. Police said Reema was not keeping well for the last two years. In the third incident,a youth and his girlfriend attempted suicide due to their families opposition to their marriage. The victims were found unconscious at a Ghazipur house. They are battling for life at Lal Bahadur Hospital.
Former IAF official immolates self
Noida: A retired wing commander of the Indian Air force committed suicide at his Jalvayu Vihar residence in the city on Thursday. He was reportedly suffering from depression. Police sources said Surender Sahni (68) was found burnt to death on the roof of his house in Sector 21. Police said Sahni is believed to have poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire. Police stated the victim had been suffering from depression since his son died in an accident in Gujarat.
Policeman shot at in Manesar
Gurgaon: A policeman was seriously injured when unidentified assailants shot at him while he was trying to stop their car at a check-post in Manesar late on Wednesday night. The policeman,identified as Yogendra Kumar (30),had flagged down the car,which had four occupants. When Kumar approached the vehicle,one of them shot at him. The bullet hit Yogesh in the pelvis while the car sped off towards Mewat. Kumar was taken to Paras Hospital where he is said to be out of danger. An investigation is on.
