A woman,aged around 26,and a four-year-old girl,presumably her daughter,were run over by a train while they were attempting to cross the railways tracks in Southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area on Sunday morning.

A woman,aged around 26,and a four-year-old girl,presumably her daughter,were run over by a train while they were attempting to cross the railways tracks in Southeast Delhi’s Nizamuddin area on Sunday morning. Railway Police said the woman was crossing the tracks at Harkesh Nagar with the child in her arms when the train hit them. The bodies,which have not yet been identified,have been shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre mortuary. The police have pasted photos in nearby areas in the hope that someone will recognise the woman and child.

Truck falls into ditch dug by Jal Board,two survive
A truck laden with milk and dairy products fell into a 30-feet manhole reportedly dug by the Delhi Jal Board in northeast Delhi. The police said the indent was reported early on Sunday morning. Officials said the truck was on its way from Hapur to a dairy in Delhi’s Durgapuri area,when the incident took place. The truck had taken the road towards Jyoti Nagar from Wazirabad when it fell into the ditch. “Two fire tenders and a crane were pressed into action for rescue operations. After two hours,we managed to pull out the driver and helper from the wreckage. Both were rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital,where they were discharged after first-aid. Both suffered minor injuries,” a senior police officer said. The police said the ditch was dug by the Delhi Jal Board a few weeks ago for renovation work. “We have launched an inquiry to find out who is responsible for the mishap and registered a case of negligence at Jyoti Nagar police station,” the officer added.

Three fires in factory units,office floor
Fire broke out in two factories and a high-rise building in three separate incidents on Saturday night. Fire officials said the incidents were reported from Narela,Okhla and Rajendra Place. No casualties were reported in the incidents. The first blaze was reported in a leather factory in Narela. The blaze reportedly started due to a short circuit. The second fire was reported from a factory in Okhla. Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the flames were brought under control in two hours. Police said that a connection in the main electricity meter tripped,leading to a short circuit. The third fire broke out on the tenth floor of Vikram Tower in Rajendra Place. Police said the office of an air-conditioner company was gutted.

Organiser of Gurgaon event held for fraud
Gurgaon: A businessman was arrested for cheating in Gurgaon on Sunday. According to the police,local businessman D B Babbar had organised a show called ‘Yodhaon ka Mahasangram’,where he claimed celebrity wrestler Khali was to make an appearance. “He also claimed to have invited Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and reportedly sold tickets up to Rs 5,000 for Saturday night,” a police officer said. When neither of the guests turned up for the event,the crowd vented their anger on the furniture at the venue,Tao Devi Lal Stadium.
