Hooch tragedy: two more die in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad:Two more persons died in Ghaziabad in the hooch tragedy,the police said on Sunday. A large crowd also gathered at the National Highway 24 in Garh Mukteshwar area demanding Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the families of the victims.
Fire in Noida slum,50 hutments gutted
Noida: Fire broke out at two spots in Noida on Saturday night. The first was in a slum area in Sector-63 at midnight. More than 50 houses were gutted. Seven fire tenders were sent to the spot and no casualty was reported in the incident. Later in the night,another fire was reported Club 26 in Sector-26. “The fire broke out on the first floor,no one was hurt, said Chief Fire Officer A B Pandey.

Fire at bank in Chandni Chowk
NEW DELHI: A fire broke out in the strong room of a bank in Central Delhi early on Sunday,in which some office records were lost. According to the police,the blaze was reported from Punjab National Bank branch located in Chandni Chowk around 4.30 am and eight fire tenders were sent to the spot. The cause of fire is suspected to be short circuit.
Goods worth Rs 10 lakh robbed from factory
New Delhi: Twelve masked men broke into a battery making factory in Hapur late on Saturday night and made away with batteries worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The police said the robbers had scaled the wall of Ma Bhagwati Industries in Swarg Ashram,Hapur. There were nine labourers working on the premises,and the criminals tied them up,the police said. The robbers fled at 4.30 am from the factory.
Six arrested for metal factory thefts
New Delhi: Six persons,including a father-son duo,were arrested in the Capital on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a series of robberies at metal factories and godowns as well as stealing high-voltage wire in Outer Delhi areas and Haryana,police said on Sunday. The arrested have been identified as Rajbir Singh (51),his son Ravinder Singh (28),Mohd Shakeel (21),Sewak (30),Pradip (47) and a scrap dealer Ramavtar (38),who bought the goods robbed by the gang. Looted goods worth more than Rs 12 lakh,four pistols with 27 rounds,a stolen van and a motorcycle were recovered from them.
Nitish Katara: Ghaziabad SSP to file report
New Delhi: A Delhi court has asked the Ghaziabad SSP to file a report on the plea of Ajay Katara,a witness in Nitish Katara murder case,that he was being threatened and harassed at the behest of powerful UP politician D P Yadav for testifying in the case. Let SSP take notice of this application and provide personal security to the applicant (Katara), the court said. He claimed that 10 fake cases were lodged against him at various police stations in Ghaziabad at the instance of Yadav,father of accused Vikas Yadav,who has been sentenced to life term in the case.
