Paying more for parking? MCD to register complaint
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday appealed to the public to send complaints if a parking contractor charges more then the stipulated rates. The MCD authorises contractors to charge Rs 10 for 10 hours and Rs 20 for 24 hours for cars. The charges for parking two-wheelers are Rs 7 for 10 hours and Rs 14 for 24 hours, it said in a statement. If a contractor is charging more,the complaint can be lodged with Officer-on-Special Duty (Parking) at Nigam Bhawan,Kashmere Gate and Zonal Deputy Commissioners, the statement added.
New system for power complaints
BSES consumers can now register their powercut complaints by calling up the discoms call centre with an interactive voice response system (IVRS),the company said in a statement on Thursday. Our customers will not have to wait to speak to a customer service representative to register a complaint. They can call at the call centre numbers 39999707 for BRPL and 39999808 for BYPL and enter their 10-digit consumer number as printed on their bill, the discoms statement read.
Leopard spotted in Outer Delhi
A leopard that was spotted last year at a farmhouse in Alipur seems to be back in the Capital. Two villagers in Outer Delhi sighted the leopard on Thursday,with Wildlife officials indicating a leopard is near in Chouhanpatti,a village in North Delhi. NGO Wildlife SOS and the Forest department are moving cages to the area to trap the animal.
Woman hangs self
A 69-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in South Delhi. The police said the body of the deceased,Sarla Vasudev,was found at her residence in DDA Flats,Saket,by her husband,Jeevan Lal (75). The police said the woman was undergoing treatment for depression for the past two years.
Car catches fire
A car caught fire in South Delhis Vasant Kunj area at 4.30 pm on Thursday. No injuries were reported,the police said. The police said the car owner,Kiran,was being driven from Gurgaon to Delhi in her Maruti SX-4 car when the driver noticed smoke from the cars bonnet. He stopped the car on the Mahipalpur flyover and told his employer to step out too. The fire then engulfed the car.
