Angry cop files complaint against ACP
Piqued after being scolded by his superiors,a hawaldar posted at the Sultanpuri police station wrote a complaint in the daily diary of the station saying he and his family were facing a threat from his Assistant Commissioner of Police and an inspector. Police sources said Sri Kishan has gone on leave after the incident. The ACP concerned said the allegations were baseless. Kishan used to skip duty saying he was going to the courts and was asked to explain his conduct, said a senior police officer. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said the inquiry has been handed over to the ACP of another sub-division.
Constable fired at by truckers,injured
A Delhi Police constable posted at the Nazafgarh police station of Southwest Delhi suffered bullet injuries on duty after unknown assailants opened fire at him at 1 am on Monday. The constable,identified as Dharamvir,was checking vehicles at the barricade. A Tata 407 mini truck was intercepted. The policemen on duty asked the truck to stop,but the truck tried to speed away. When the police chased it,an assailant fired at Dharamveer, the police said,adding that the truck was carrying stolen animals to Mewat,Haryana. Dharamveer was taken to DDU hospital with a shoulder injury.
Two vehicle thieves nabbed
Two persons were arrested on Sunday for involvement in vehicle theft cases,the police said. The accused were identified as Satish,alllegedly involved in 20 previous cases,and Rahul Karan. Two stolen cars and two motorcycles were recovered from their possession. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said 15 cases of vehicle theft were solved.
55-year-old man held for murder of friend
A 55-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering the caretaker of a building,the police said. Jagan Nath allegedly stabbed Surender to death at his accommodation in Khanpur on August 27,DCP (South) HGS Dhaliwal said. They were good friends and used to work in the same building. Nath gave Rs 5,000 to Surender for opening tea stall for his brother. But the victim later refused to return the money and threatened to get Nath sacked, Dhaliwal said. Nath decided to take revenge and on July 27,attacked Surender with a scissor.
Gurgaon shopping fest from Sept 27
Gurgaon: After almost a years delay,the Gurgaon administration has reached a final date to host the much hyped shopping festival to showcase the Millennium City. The festival is scheduled to begin from September 27 and will culminate on November 1,said Deputy Commissioner of Gurgaon,Rajender Kataria,also the chairman of the organising committee of the festival on Monday.
