Prince Charles will be attending the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in October in Delhi. A spokesperson for the British High Commission announced on Thursday that the Prince of Wales will be attending the ceremony. “His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales will represent Her Majesty The Queen at the opening of the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October,” an official statement said.

Inderlok-Mundka Metro line opens Saturday
Having received the necessary statutory safety clearances,the Inderlok-Mundka Metro corridor is all set to open for the public from Saturday. The corridor will be flagged off on Friday by Minister for Urban Development S Jaipal Reddy and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. “This 15.1-km long corridor will open to public from 6 am on April 3 and is expected to be used by over one lakh commuters every day,” a DMRC spokesperson said.

New GM for Northern Railways takes charge
Shailendra Kumar Budhalakoti,who has held several important positions with the railways,took over as the new general manager of Northern Railways. Budhalakoti is an officer of the 1975 batch of Indian Railway Traffic Service.

Two held for murder
Greater NOIDA: The Noida police arrested two contractual labourers for murdering Pawan Upadhayay,the HR head of Intra Arch. Upadhayay was murdered on March 24. His body was found in Greater Noida. Surendra Verma,SP (Rural),said the murder was committed by the driver of the deceased with his two friends. “The driver had asked Upadhayay for money for a Maruti Esteem car he had bought but Pawan didn’t pay. He felt insulted,” SP Verma said. “The driver is absconding.”

Gang of robbers busted
Ghaziabad: With the arrest of three persons,the Ghaziabad police have busted a gang of robbers who used to commit loots in Gujarat,Daman,Maharashtra and Chennai. The police claimed that gang was also involved in the Rs 10 lakh loot case in Indirapuram recently. The arrested accused are Akhilesh,Rajesh and Yashpal Alias Guddu —- the leader of the gang and a resident of Nyay Khand. The police recovered gold worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 1.3 lakh cash.
