Body of 10-year-old boy found in drain

NEW DELHI: A 10-year-old boy’s body was recovered from a drain in Mandawali,East Delhi,on Wednesday evening. Deepak,a Class IV student at a government school,had gone missing on August 25. When he didn’t return,the family lodged a complaint with the police the next day. The boy’s body was recovered from a drain situated close to where his father,Bhola Shah,sells vegetables. Noting that the drain was three feet deep,police said Deepak may have fallen into it accidentally. The body has been sent for an autopsy.

Suicide victim’s sister gets her son’s custody

New Delhi: Bowing to the last wish of a woman who committed suicide,a Delhi court has given the custody of her minor son to her sister for the time being. Acting on a plea by the child’s maternal aunt for his custody,Additional Senior Civil Judge (ASCJ) N K Malhotra said,“As per the suicide note written by the victim,which is addressed to the petitioner (child’s maternal aunt),the child will be looked after by the petitioner,” the judge said,noting the last wishes of the child’s mother. The court rejected the plea of the child’s grandfather for his custody.
