the group has said that untreated and inadequately disinfected groundwater is still being pumped into households, violating citizens’ fundamental right to safe water.A Delhi-based environmental activist group, Earth Warriors, has written to L-G VK Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, among others, warning them of “public health emergency” after the latest Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) Post-Monsoon 2025 report flagged serious contamination of groundwater in Delhi.
Citing the “highest-ever contamination levels” and the Delhi Jal Board’s continued reliance on tube wells with high TDS, nitrates, ammonia, fluoride and other pollutants, the group has said that untreated and inadequately disinfected groundwater is still being pumped into households, violating citizens’ fundamental right to safe water.
The letter claims DJB tests only 23-25 parameters instead of the 70-plus prescribed under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) norms and that long-pending TDS and contaminant-removal systems remain unimplemented. The group has sought immediate directions for public disclosure of detailed tube-well water quality reports, suspension of supply from all failing sources, urgent commissioning of treatment systems, and an independent inquiry to fix accountability.
