Abduction turns out to be arrest

There could be no better example of the lack of coordination between police departments of different states.

An abduction case was registered at the Vasant Kunj station after a man was allegedly dragged into the car at Nelson Mandela Marg on Tuesday evening. But when the cops started investigating,they found that the men in the car were actually from the Karnataka Police Cyber Cell and Romesh Kumar (25) had been picked up in connection with a cyber crime case. While Kumar was picked up,his friend Vidya Sagar thought he was being abducted and called the police.

“The local police were not informed about the operation,” said a senior police officer said,adding that the Karnataka Police should have intimated their Delhi counterparts about such an operation. Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) Ajai Kashyap said that as a case has been lodged they would now mention in the diary that when verified the matter was found to be an operation by the Karnataka Police.
