After equipping party volunteers with spy cameras to report any “nefarious activities” such as distribution of liquor and money to woo voters, the AAP has formed “fly-by-night” squads of volunteers to ensure that no such incident goes unreported.

According to an AAP leader, the party has made groups of five volunteers each which will visit all districts in the capital.

“We have 42 teams, comprising 2-5 party volunteers each, in 14 districts. These workers will roam around the locality, checking if any distribution of liquor and cash is taking place there. They have a list of all Election Commission officials so that the matter can be reported immediately,” he said.

Moreover, the party in a final push for votes hours before the polling day, sent teams out to the border areas of Delhi. Carrying posters of “5 saal Kejriwal”, around 12-15 teams of volunteers tried to create a “buzz” among commuters coming in and out of the capital. “There are a lot of people from Delhi who go to Gurgaon and Noida every day. To create a buzz among them, our teams tried to engage with them in border areas,” another AAP leader said.

This “border-buzz” campaign is a part of the AAP’s larger “Buzz” campaign to mobilise support for the party ahead of polling day.

Elaborating on the campaign, the AAP leader said, “Around 12,000 to 13,000 volunteers came to Delhi from across the country. They were part of the AAP’s buzz campaign and they visited market places, Metro stations and other public spaces to engage with voters. They found innovative ways to reach out — with music, flash mob dances and street plays.”

On Friday evening, the AAP’s dance group called “Dance of Democracy” held a flash mob performance at HUDA City Centre Metro station.

At the party office in New Delhi’s Vittalbhai Patel House, a group of volunteers have prepared ‘election kits’ which will be given to polling booth managers. These kits contain electoral rolls of each booth with photos, stationery, a brass seal and a copy of annexure.

“We have identified 13 zones and zonal prabharies who will head booth management,” Sandeep Singh, a booth in-charge, said.
