The Gurgaon police arrested four persons for allegedly murdering a former sarpanch of Hayatpur village,from Pataudi area on Saturday. A huge cache of arms was recovered from their possession,they added.
A special police team had been constituted after alleged mercenaries tried to kill the father of the villages slain ex-sarpanch,Rakesh,around a month ago. The father,Shiv Narayan,had managed to survive the attack.
Acting on a tip off,police raided a complex in Pataudi and arrested the three persons. Seven pistols and live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
While Ratan Singh,a native of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh,was arrested for his involvement in the ex-sarpanch killing,Satyendra Singh alias Chotu Bihari,hailing from Patna,and Sunil alias Vicky,a resident of Gurgaon,were arrested for attempting to murder his father.
Police also arrested Narendra alias Monu Yadav for providing shelter to the accused in Pataudi. Police officers said the conspiracy to kill the ex-sarpanch was hatched by Sanjay and another person,also known as Rakesh,over personal enmity.
Another person,Bhup Singh,was also involved,they added.
Rakesh was chased and killed by four contract killers on June 23 this year. After the incident,the villagers had nabbed one of the alleged killers and set him ablaze. He died later.
